ITC to set up 13 trash processing centres - Deccan Herald
June 30, 2013
Consumer goods major ITC Limited will set up garbage processing centres in 13 wards of the city as part of the 'Wealth out of Waste' programme. The centres are expected to be operational in two months.
B Joga Rao, Vice President, ITC Limited said here on Saturday that the City produces 5,000 tonnes of waste per day of which about 1,200 tonnes could be reused  in the initial stage itself. To create awareness about recycling, National Recycling Day will be observed on July 1 at the National College Grounds, he said.
Palike Commissioner M Lakshminarayanan said the BBMP will extend all cooperation to ITC Limited. "There is no rule as of now to take action against people who throw garbage at public places. We can impose fine on such people only after the government brings in a rule" he said.
