ITC-Welcomgroup tops the Hewitt Best Employer in Asia (Hospitality) Study

ITC-Welcomgroup, the flagship hotels division of ITC Limited with over 100 properties spread in more than 75 destinations, was adjudged the best Employer in Asia in the hospitality sector by the global Human Resources consulting and outsourcing firm, Hong Kong -Hewitt Associates in partnership with Wall Street Journal.
In a study conducted by Hewitt together with Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones, which covered eight markets including Australia, New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, ITC Welcomgroup got the unique distinction of being one of the best employers in Asia. Hewitt Associates, named 5 Hotels in Asia Pacific as the regional ''Best'' following the evaluation by an independent judging panel in February in Hong Kong. Interestingly while the other four Hotels (part of International Chains) have found a mention as Single Hotels, the Award for Welcomgroup has been bestowed upon the entire chain.
Understanding what drives employee behaviour during these economically difficult times is critical to business success. The three major areas of focus, highlighted by the Study, as the visible drivers among the chosen best employers include relentless execution of programs, persistent empowerment of Managers & highly efficient HR functions.

ITC Welcomgroup has always been in the forefront in pursuit of excellence and has won several awards including the eminent Helen Keller Award for Social Responsibility. ITC's Green Building which houses the hotels division headquarters is one of the first green buildings in the world with a Platinum Leed Certification. ITC is the only company in the world of its size and diversity to be carbon-positive, water-positive, and achieve a 100 % solid waste recycling status in several of its operations.
More than 900 organizations registered to participate in the 2009 Hewitt Best Employers in Asia Study. The study received inputs from over two million people making it the largest single source of employee and human capital research across the region says Smita Anand , Regional Director Asia Pacific Hewitt.
